Community loan for Ballybane Community Centre Ltd
With financial support from Clann Credo, the community in Ballybane has built its own state of the art Community Centre. Up and running for a number of years now, it has proven of huge social benefit to the area and the project has shown itself to be a model of community cooperation and initiative.
The 9,000 square foot centre provides a tangible, physical centre for all community-related activities in the Ballybane and Mervue areas of Galway. The centre comprises office space, meeting rooms, community resource rooms and childcare facilities. It is located beside an existing community sports facility.
The centre also provides space for a number of state agencies who were formerly housed in various private dwellings throughout the local authority estate. This was a highly unsuitable situation, particularly if people accessing services required confidentiality. The new centre addresses those concerns and also ensures a better delivery of the services to the local community.
