Community loan for Bee Park Resource Centre

It was local initiative and enterprise that drove the development of the Beepark Resource Centre, some 15 years ago. Recognising that the existing community centre no longer had the capacity to meet local needs, let alone offer new services, the plan to develop Beepark was formulated. This was based on extensive consultation with the local community, followed by a successful fundraising campaign.

Thus, the centre was built on firm community foundations and in direct response to community need. No wonder that in over the intervening years, Beepark Resource Centre has become a huge success, anchoring a wide range of local services and projects.  It provides previously unavailable gym and boxing facilities to local residents, acts as a Drop in Centre for youth, houses a community creche that provides childcare to 30 children, affords space for both a men’s and a women’s group and also facilitates local theatre productions and social occasions.  Hardly surprising that the Beepark Resource Centre won second place in the national Pride of Place Awards, in 2008, with the prize presented by then President, Mary McAleese.

However, the centre had incurred unforeseen costs with the original construction. Until that debt was cleared, it would not be in position to develop to its full potential. Clann Credo provided the required assistance to the Beepark Resource Centre in order to ensure it was in position continue its dynamic role in the life of the local community.

"Clann Credo had belief we could achieve our dream and it's thanks to them for providing the initial loan finance. Together with organizations that provide the funding and the support of our local community we have got to this stage. -Tom Donnelly, Director and Treasurer of Multyfarmham's Community Centre"
