Community loan for Cahir Park AFC

Cahir Park AFC is more than just a soccer club to the local community with programmes for all ages, genders and abilities. Along with the usual soccer programmes, Cahir Park hosts the Football for All programme that is aimed at giving children with disabilities from the ages of 6 to 16 a chance to meet every Sunday to play soccer.

The Club is also part of the wider community, managing a Pobal funded Community Services Programme that operates a community preschool. Cahir Park Preschool is situated in the upstairs of the Club House. The Cahir Park Club house is also home to local men’s and women’s shed along with regularly being used by the wider community including the local schools and other sports clubs in the town.

The club has been around for more than 100 years and at its current location since before 1920. The land was part of the Cahir estate and the landowner Colonel Charteris was a patron of the club. On his death in 1961 the estate was broken up and the Club purchased the land from the land commission. Over the years the grounds have been developed to include a main pitch, a training pitch, an AstroTurf pitch.

As Cahir Park revealed its new AstroTurf pitch in August 2017, Clann Credo was proud to have supported the finances with a bridging loan as the new facility will be open to and benefit the whole community and other clubs in the area.
